Former NBA competitors Penny Hardaway and Hubert Davis team up for St. Jude

Nearly 40 years after first discussing the idea, Penny Hardaway and Hubert Davis are finally teaming up.

It just isn’t in the capacity either ever envisioned it being.

Hardaway, Memphis’ coach, was a coveted recruit out of Treadwell High in 1990. He was two graduating classes behind Davis, a highly touted prospect himself out of Virginia’s Lake Braddock Secondary School who now coaches North Carolina.

The two, who had an admiration for each other’s game and have maintained a relationship throughout the years, had talked about potentially playing together at the college level during their recruitment process.
