A group of three regulars — known to staff as the Platinum (not Golden) Girls — sat in the Woman’s Exchange of Memphis tea room, as they do every Wednesday and Friday.

The twice-a-week ritual shows the importance of the exchange to the trio. Jackie Johns believes every city needs a Woman’s Exchange.

“The women here are so friendly,” Johns said. “The cook is great. ... And there are so many lovely things to look at. You can not only have lunch, but you can see so many gorgeous things for sale.”

The Woman’s Exchange provides an array of options for visitors from meals to handmade goods with a benefit to those in need. The location is wrapping up its holiday shop showcasing Christmas decorations, jewelry, stockings and more before the organization closes for the holidays on Dec. 20.
