What’s happening in Shelby County courtrooms in 2025

In 2024, some significant court cases came to a close while trial dates for others were set for the coming year.
Here are some court cases The Daily Memphian will be tracking in 2025.
State trial for ex-cops accused of Tyre Nichols’ death
Four of the former Memphis police officers charged in the 2023 death of Tyre Nichols are set to go to trial for their state charges April 28.
Three of the officers — Justin Smith, Tadarrius Bean and Demetrius Haley — recently faced a four-week federal trial and were acquitted of the most serious charges related to Nichols’ death in October.
