DeSoto Sheriff’s Office continues working with controversial software

The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office will continue using facial-recognition software that has made headlines in recent years.
During a meeting on Monday, Jan. 6, the county’s Board of Supervisors authorized the Sheriff’s Office to continue contracting with Clearview AI, a New York-based tech company that provides an immense database of images collected online for law-enforcement agencies to use during investigations.
