Memphis Animal Services euthanizes nearly 100 dogs
“Animal control officers will respond to only dangerous/vicious animal complaints and sick/injured animals,” the City of Memphis said in a statement. “During this period, (Memphis Animal Services) officers will take sick/injured animals to the Animal Emergency Center for evaluation and take injured animals to the Humane Society for housing with assistance from MAS staff.” (Benjamin Naylor/The Daily Memphian file)
A distemper outbreak at Memphis Animal Services has shut down the facility until at least Tuesday and led to the euthanasia of nearly 100 dogs with more possible, city officials said.
