FORT WORTH, Texas — Memphis Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane stood in the hallway of Schollmaier Arena with his wife standing by his side and his 2-year-old son in his arms.
Together, the three of them gazed toward the center of the basketball court.
Bane spent the day anticipating the signal to walk onto the floor. It was a freeze-frame he knew was sure to bring back emotions and memories both joyful and saddening.
