A blanket of snow and some ice blanketed Memphis Tuesday, Feb. 18.
The frozen layer made it difficult for City of Memphis officials to plow the streets Wednesday morning. And the Tennessee Valley Authority and Memphis Light, Gas and Water announced a voluntary call for energy conservation from 6 to 10 a.m. Thursday and Friday morning
The wintry weather caused area schools to cancel schools. Arlington Community Schools’ parents and students received special phone calls from the voice of Morgan Freeman and Dolly Parton letting them know about the snow day.
