When looking ahead following Memphis’ 12-point win over Rice on Wednesday, Tigers coach Penny Hardaway compared his team’s upcoming American Athletic Conference game to a brawl of sorts.
That’s what Hardaway expects when the No. 18 Tigers (23-5, 13-2 AAC) take on regional rival UAB on Sunday (3 p.m., ESPN) at Bartow Arena in Birmingham, Alabama.
“It’s gonna be a bare-knuckle fight when you go into UAB,” said Hardaway, whose Tigers beat the Blazers by 23 points in the two teams’ first meeting Jan. 26 in Memphis.
