MSCS could sell Bayer Building, demolish several vacant schools

As Memphis-Shelby County Schools considers a long-term plan to close, consolidate and build schools, district officials have set a deadline for the future of its vacant buildings: Ones that aren’t sold by the end of June could be demolished.
The district is also gauging interest in potential buyers for the Bayer Consumer Health Campus at 3030 Jackson Ave., once positioned to be the Memphis school system’s new central headquarters.
Former Superintendent Marie Feagins debuted the real estate plan in December weeks before school board chair Joyce Dorse Coleman first called for her ouster. Progress appears to have continued through the leadership tumult.
