Attorneys told The Daily Memphian late last year conditions with Shelby County Jail’s intake process, including long wait times for booking and processing (exceeding 40 hours, according to the most recent jail report card) and inadequate living conditions, are “disgusting.” (Courtesy Shelby County Sheriff’s Office)
Justin Segerson, 41, was found unresponsive at the jail Jan. 30 and was taken to Methodist University Hospital where he died the next day.
