Jigsaw: Chalk it up
Craig Thomspon, one of the professtional chalk artists for Chalk Fest, works on his artwork on the front plaza of the Memphis Brooks Museum, Saturday, May 3, 2025. (Greg Campbell/Special to The Daily Memphian)
After a stormy morning that dumped nearly an inch of water on the city Saturday, the sun started shining and Memphians put away their umbrellas and came out to play.
You could spot Memphians everywhere Saturday afternoon, May 3, enjoying the cooler temperatures the rain brought with it. In Cooper-Young, they were at the weekly farmer’s market. In Overton Square, they were at a crawfish festival. At Crosstown Concourse, they were celebrating all things pooch with Puppy Palooza. In Collierville, they celebrated the Fair on the Square. Downtown, they were at the second day of the Riverbeat Music Festival, enjoying Public Enemy and the Killers.
And at the Brooks Museum of Art, they were playing with chalk.
