Four of 5 suspects named in latest MPD operation are not in jail

Just days after the announcement of a sweeping multi-jurisdictional law enforcement operation that ended earlier this month, records show nearly 80% of the named suspects are not in custody.
Local leaders, including Memphis Police Department Chief C.J. Davis, announced the results of “Operation Rolling Thunder” on Wednesday, May 21.
“It didn’t roll through Memphis quietly. It moved through this city disrupting, dismantling and disarming the people causing the most harm in our neighborhoods, and we aren’t done yet,” Davis said during the announcement, which touted the number of arrests.
