Martin: PJ Haggerty will regret leaving Penny Hardaway and Memphis

John Martin is a contributing college sports columnist for The Daily Memphian. Martin is a lifelong Memphian who’s covered the Memphis Tigers’ basketball program for more than a decade. Before joining The Daily Memphian team, he was the Memphis beat writer for The Athletic. All-American guard PJ Haggerty is withdrawing from the NBA Draft process and transferring to Kansas State, according to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.
This comes after weeks of hemming and hawing about his next destination. First, it was Ole Miss. Then, it was North Carolina State. Haggerty apparently finally landed on Kansas State and did so for “a lot less” than the $4 million his father asked for when Haggerty initially entered the portal, according to Field of 68’s Jeff Goodman.
