Speed and freedom: That’s why roller skating will never die

The owners of the Cordova Skating Center recently spent more than $100,000 on a rink refurbishment, adding a swanky black light mural, new carpeting and other upgrades.

That might prompt some to ask, “Why would you spend that kind of money on a roller rink? Isn’t roller skating an artifact of the past, like video arcades or movie-rental stores? Hasn’t roller skating been killed off by all the entertainment options available to today’s youths?”
