Downtown shooting critically injures man

A shooting Downtown late Friday night, June 27, left one man in critical condition, according to an emailed statement from the Memphis Police Department.
Officers responded to the shooting in the 200 block of Union Avenue at 11:34 p.m.
A man who had been shot was transported by private vehicle to the hospital in critical condition. The shooter and the victim both knew each other, according to MPD.
A police squad car was also struck by gunfire, the statement said, but no officers were injured.
No arrests have been made, and MPD continues to investigate the incident.
