Mary Cashiola
Mary Cashiola has been a Memphis journalist for nearly two decades, beginning her career covering city government and local neighborhoods at the Memphis Flyer before being hired by Memphis Mayor A C Wharton’s administration.
Before joining The Daily Memphian, she was the managing editor of the Memphis Business Journal, which was named one of the top 10 Best Designed Newspapers in the world by the Society of News Design while she was there.
She also has a background in advertising, with a focus on higher education and the hospitality industry.
Listen, I need to tell you something.
We’ve heard feedback from readers about wanting more ways to consume The Daily Memphian’s stories.
So, in recent weeks, we’ve added more audio capabilities to our site.
The first of those is an audio player that uses an automatic voice. Readers can now listen to select articles while in the car, working out or doing chores.
The audio player, which is located at the top of most Daily Memphian stories, also provides those with visual impairments an easy way to digest local news.
The second audio feature we’ve added is a new morning podcast, called “The AM/DM.” It’s the latest addition to The Daily Memphian’s free podcast lineup, and readers can subscribe to our weekly podcast newsletter here.
“The AM/DM” features short segments on what’s happening today, spot news and an in-depth interview with one of our reporters or editors. It goes up every weekday morning around 6:30 a.m.
In addition to giving you another quick way to start your day with the information you need, we hope “The AM/DM” helps you get to know The Daily Memphian’s various staffers.
We’re professional journalists, but we’re also members of this community. Some of us like sports, some of us don’t. Some of us are serious and policy-minded; others aren’t. But we all share a commitment to providing our readers with the most up-to-date, accurate news.
Whether that’s through the written word or the spoken one.
