Memphis songwriter Mark Edgar Stuart will host the five-part Songwriter Series in the Halloran Centre Lounge. Each performance will feature three musicians, who will share personal stories and introduce new work. Participating songwriters includeBrandon Kinder, Johnny Mack, Chris Milam, McKenna Bray, Blair Combest, Rice Drewry, Grace Askew, Carson McHone, Bailey Bigger and Keith Paluso.

Memphis Symphony Orchestra music director and conductor Robert Moody will present the three-part Orchestra Unplugged series, which features a "deep dive" into Beethoven Symphony No. 7 and “Devil at the Crossroads: Stravinsky meets Robert Johnson.”

Ron Jewell, vice president of Halloran Centre operations, said it's important to use the venue as a resource for showcasing Memphis musicians alongside the company of touring artists.

“With Maestro Robert Moody’s help, we will enjoy listening to a unique voice from the Memphis Symphony with distinctive programming not traditionally presented by the orchestra, and through the Songwriters Series, Memphis will get a chance to experience the remarkable collection of resident songwriters and working professionals in a very personal and interactive way," he said.

The 12-part Music Series will begin with The Bar-Kays' 55th Anniversary Celebration on Aug. 23. Other scheduled acts for the series include CeCe Winans, Southern Avenue, Susan Marshall and Reba Russell.

The three-part Theatre Series will begin with “Magical Life: An Evening with Larry Hass” on Sept. 27. Other scheduled acts for the series include the one-man show “Give 'Em Hell Harry,” starring Clifton Truman Daniel, President Harry Truman’s grandson, and “That Golden Girls Show — A Puppet Parody.”

Tickets for the season and the complete 2019-20 “On Stage” schedule are available online.
