Why are companies storing solar equipment in Memphis?

By , Daily Memphian Published: September 02, 2025 4:00 AM CT

Companies are flocking to the Memphis area to store solar equipment ahead of the expiration of certain renewable energy tax credits.

More than two million square feet of warehousing has been leased this year to companies storing solar equipment.

“The reason for all this business is these third-party logistics companies are trying to warehouse these solar panels before the tax incentives for wind and solar end because of (President Donald) Trump’s (One Big Beautiful Bill Act) at the end of the year,” said David Ruben, senior leasing manager for Olymbec USA.
