Control of MATA money goes to city trust
“The administration and this body is not satisfied with the direction of the organization, its inability to achieve its core mission,” Memphis City Council attorney Allan Wade said. “In essence, we weren’t asked to participate directly in the process, and there is some thinking that we may want to repurpose or reimagine public transportation. The trust controlling city funding to the Memphis Area Transit Authority is the result of discontent by City Council members as well as the City of Memphis administration about the bus system’s interim leadership.
