The political life and times of Myron Lowery
“I ran for the City Council because as a reporter I saw things happening at City Hall that, quite frankly, I didn’t like,” Myron Lowery said of his transition from TV news to politics. “I saw members of the council not giving the same amount of respect for one community as they did another. And I felt that I could do a better job than some of them were doing.” (Lance Murphey/The Daily Memphian file)
Former Memphis City Council member Myron Lowery, who died Sunday, was also interim Memphis mayor and City Court Clerk during 40 years in the rough and tumble of local politics.
