NASHVILLE — On Monday, Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant was asked how the team was going to replace the outgoing production lost in the trade that sent Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic in June.

Morant, speaking honestly, didn’t arrive at his answer right away.

“That’s tough,” said Morant, who played beside Bane in the backcourt for six seasons. “I felt like, at first, when he was on our team, there was a lot of disrespect towards Des from fans and stuff. Then he leaves, and it’s a lot of guys, like, ‘Wow.’

“That’s the same Des that has been here. So, it’s definitely going to be tough. He can shoot the h--- out of the ball and dribble and score. It needs to be a team effort, for sure. That’s definitely a piece we have to plug in, but I feel like we will be fine.”
