DeSoto County parents plan protest following Whiteside sentencing

By , Daily Memphian Updated: October 21, 2025 7:25 PM CT | Published: October 21, 2025 4:47 PM CT

A group of parents is escalating the public confrontation with the DeSoto County School District calling for a school walkout on Wednesday, Oct. 22, to protest the handling of the Lindsey Whiteside sexual battery case and the continued employment of officials who supported her.

The organizing group, DeSoto County Parents for Accountability, confirmed it is organizing the action but declined a formal interview.

However, in a statement posted to its social media, the group dismissed any recent actions by school leadership, such as an employee’s “leave of absence” or public statements, as merely “reactive, not proactive.”
