Ask the Memphian: Does a ghost named Mary really haunt the Orpheum?

Until that Saturday she took her daughter to work with her, Alice Roberts never believed in the legendary ghost of Mary who supposedly haunts Downtown’s Orpheum Theatre.
On that day more than a decade ago, Roberts took 3-year-old Evelyn with her to work, then set her up with a portable DVD player to keep her entertained while Roberts helped handle auditions.
It was on the drive back home when Roberts felt her stomach churn.
