After introducing new Memphis football coach Charles Huff to program supporters Wednesday, Tigers athletic director Ed Scott publicly addressed the previous coach for the first time since Ryan Silverfield left 10 days earlier to take over at Arkansas.
“Ryan and I had an awesome relationship. We still do. And we made great music together,” Scott said, initially bringing up Silverfield’s name on his own. “We were 19-5 (over two seasons), right? I’ll take that record anywhere. But we lost some meaningful games, and he moved on.”
The Tigers finished 8-4 in the 2025 regular season, beating Arkansas early on as part of a 6-0 start but taking an upset loss to UAB in mid-October at Birmingham and ending with consecutive losses to Tulane, East Carolina and Navy.
