A vacant and blighted 10-unit apartment building in the Bickford section of North Memphis is the latest piece of a long-running city effort to bring back affordable housing to the area.

City leaders cut the ribbon Thursday, Dec. 18, on the renovated “Place of Grace” apartments at 1051 Seventh St. — an update to circa-1968 complex that’s been two years in the making.

It had been vacant for years before the Community Redevelopment Agency bought it five years ago from Midtown Property LLC — a Tennessee LLC whose members signing the warrant deed did so in Orange County, California.
