The AM/DM podcast: What Memphians think about the task force

By , Daily Memphian Published: December 30, 2025 6:14 AM CT

The AM/DM is The Daily Memphian’s weekday podcast. Listen in every morning around 6:30 a.m. to get the news you need for the day, as well as a critical — but quick — interview on a larger story.

In the three months since the Memphis Safe Task Force began in Memphis, the operation has impacted almost everything in some way, whether it’s crime rates, court dockets, school transportation or even restaurants and nightlife.

It’s changed how Memphians grocery shop. It’s changed how they drive; it’s changed, in some cases, if they drive.

We know how many of Memphis’ elected officials feel about the task force, but what about regular people, just trying to live their lives? What do they think?

Today, we’re joined by metro editor Jane Donahoe to talk about what our reporters recently learned.
