In this week’s political roundup, Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris outlines some end-of-term priorities with less than a year left in office. They include getting plans for a new Cordova high school back on track.
The county’s Democratic Party chairman Willie Simon is sorting out a flood of Democratic candidates in the May county primaries that includes for the first time a slate of school board primaries.
And with no well-known Republican contender in the May county mayoral primary declared so far, some Democrats are nervous about Marie Feagins possibly courting Republican crossover voters to the Democratic primary.
