The AM/DM podcast: Why’d we send two sports guys to Europe?

The AM/DM is The Daily Memphian’s weekday podcast. Listen in every morning around 6:30 a.m. to get the news you need for the day, as well as a critical — but quick — interview on a larger story.

Last week, the Memphis Grizzlies organization — the players, members of the front office, the entertainment team, the mascot — traveled to Europe to take on the Orlando Magic. Twice.

The first of the two NBA Global Games was in Berlin on Thursday, Jan. 15, and then the two teams — as part of an effort to popularize the NBA in Europe — moved to London for a game Sunday, Jan. 18.

And The Daily Memphian was there. We sent Grizzlies beat reporter Drew Hill and sports editor David Boyd along for the ride.

Today, Boyd tells us about the trip and being some of the only American media in the room as rumors swirled around a potential trade of Grizzlies star Ja Morant.
