BERLIN — If you are wondering just how unfamiliar the territory was for the Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday night in Berlin, Germany, you can start with the audience.

Two hours before the Grizzlies fell to the Orlando Magic, 118-111, Uber Arena opened its doors to a crowd unlike any the NBA had ever seen. That’s not an exaggeration.

The game, which sold out minutes after tickets released months ago — 14,500 strong — was the first regular-season contest ever played in Germany. It also featured fans from more than 62 different countries, and plenty were dressed for the occasion.
