Howdy, Memphis. It’s Friday, Feb. 6, and Ja Morant is still a Memphian. I’m thrilled about it, but our basketball guys have more nuanced opinions. Either way, Morant is still injured, so you won’t see him play in the Memphis Grizzlies’ double-header this weekend against the Trail Blazers.
Morant remains: The NBA trade deadline has come and gone, and Ja Morant is still here. But could things get messy?
Out of the bag: A Fayette County woman pleaded guilty to pretending to be a combat veteran to solicit donations.
When one door closes … another charter school moves in.
Smoking out in Germantown: Cooper-Young’s Bain Barbecue is heading out east.
Take two: Indie Memphis was nearly dead, but it’s being revived with new leadership.
A Sincere win: The Memphis Tigers beat UAB Thursday, and one player deserves a sincere thanks.
Playa vibes: Açaí bowls are coming to the Edge District.
