Alicia George really enjoys talking to people. Which is good, given her new role as co-executive director of Indie Memphis, which has big plans for a rebooted film festival in the fall.

As Indie Memphis bounces back from a year without its signature film festival, the group’s new co-executive director, Alicia George, joined me on this week’s episode of “The Sidebar” to talk about the organization’s future.

While the group has scaled back some of the programming it added over the years, plans for the Indie Memphis Film Festival Nov. 6-8 are arguably bigger than ever, with the Festival spread across much of the South Main Arts District.

George - who is also a member of the board of the Memphis & Shelby County Film and TV board - also talks about the health of the local TV and film industry, and the need for more tax incentives for movie and TV projects in Memphis in order to compete with other cities and states around the country.
