Tennessee legislature honors Memphis native Drew Holcomb

By , Special to The Daily Memphian Published: April 06, 2026 5:42 PM CT

Memphis native and four-time Grammy nominee Drew Holcomb and his wife Ellie Holcomb performed on the House floor Monday before session.

The pair was invited to perform Drew Holcomb’s 2013 song “Tennessee,” which was just recognized as one of Tennessee’s state songs and to honor him with a House Joint Resolution.

The song’s recognition puts Holcomb among the likes of Boudleaux and Felipe Bryant (“Rocky Top”), Dailey & Vincent (“I’ll Leave My Heart in Tennessee”), Red Stewart and Pee Wee King (“Tennessee Waltz”) and, of course, Dolly Parton (“My Tennessee Mountain Home”).
