$1B for rural health care coming to Tennessee

Tennessee will have $1 billion to spend across dozens of its rural counties during the next five years as part of funding made available through the Rural Health Transformation Program.

It’s an unprecedented amount of funding, Leslie Meehan, director of special projects at the Tennessee Department of Health, told a crowd of more than 100 at the Hilton Memphis on Tuesday, April 21.

But the federal government is closely watching to make sure funding is budgeted by next fall, she said.
