Memphis Movies This Week: ‘The Devil Wears Prada,’ ‘Hairspray’
Meryl Streep is back as Miranda Priestly, icy editor-in-chief of “Vogue”-like fictional fashion magazine “Runway.” Anne Hathaway, who was her fish-out-of-water, fresh-from-college assistant in the first film, returns to the magazine this time in a new capacity. Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt are also back in key supporting roles. (Courtesy 20th Century Studios)
From one commercial sure-shot (“Michael”) to another: This week brings the 20-years-later sequel “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” which returns the four main players and director from 2006’s catty comedy hit.

Chris Herrington has covered the Memphis Grizzlies, in one way or another, since the franchise’s second season in Memphis, while also writing about music, movies, food and civic life. As far as he knows, he’s the only member of the Professional Basketball Writers Association who is also a member of a film critics group and has also voted in national music critic polls for Rolling Stone and the Village Voice (RIP). He now splits his time between Minneapolis-St. Paul, where his wife works, and Memphis.
