Chris Herrington has covered the Memphis Grizzlies, in one way or another, since the franchise’s second season in Memphis, while also writing about music, movies, food and civic life. As far as he knows, he’s the only member of the Professional Basketball Writers Association who is also a member of a film critics group and has also voted in national music critic polls for Rolling Stone and the Village Voice (RIP). He now splits his time between Minneapolis-St. Paul, where his wife works, and Memphis.

The Memphis Grizzlies will have three picks in next month’s NBA Draft, one in the Top 10 (TBD, pending Sunday’s lottery), one in the middle of the first round (No. 16) and one high in the second round (No. 32).

As a rebuilding team with three spread-out picks, the Grizzlies are likely to cast a wide net, aimed at different positions and different prospect ranges. With that in mind, I’ve taken an initial look at draft prospects the Grizzlies are likely to consider, starting with guards and following with wings.

Now “bigs,” which includes power forwards and centers and players who drift between the two positions, where the Grizzlies are facing opposite issues.
