New congressional map could thwart Memphis representation on state boards

This June makes nine years that Darrell Cobbins has been a State Board of Education member. Throughout that time, state lawmakers have made more changes to education policies, empowering the board with new responsibilities.
Meeting agendas are full, asking the board to approve education standards, review teacher licensure complaints, consider student achievement metrics, and oversee certain ways taxpayer dollars are spent on education.
