Shelby County Commission to take final vote on $2.71 property-tax rate
The $2.71 rate proposed by Budget Committee Chairman Michael Whaley is an increase from the current rate of $2.69 and from the 3-cent decrease in that rate ordered by the Tennessee Comptroller’s Office. (Brad Vest/Special to The Daily Memphian file)
The commission also votes on budget amendments, including a move away from plans by Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris to start planning on a new Treadwell K-8 school.
