Thinking outside the box: Building Memphis housing one container at a time

A Pennsylvania-based behavioral healthcare organization is working to build homes for transitional living in Southeast Memphis using an unconventional material: intermodal containers.
Project Transition plans to fabricate and install nine container homes at 2554 Hernando Road, with nine more planned in a second phase. The third phase will be a multi-use building with offices, a community kitchen and a laundry.
