At the Tennessee Vintage Fest Saturday afternoon, Lydia Girard gladly handed over 20 bucks for three stickback pins, each not much larger than a quarter.

The pins didn’t seem to be particularly special, with one saying “Your band sucks” and the other two featuring images from the movies “Desperately Seeking Susan” and “Psycho.”

But Girard bought them to add to her beloved vintage Ralph Lauren denim jacket that she picked up at a Millington thrift store a few years ago. She loves that jacket, loves accessorizing it with pins and patches and whatnot, so much so that it’s a few pounds heavier now than when she bought it.
