Daily Jigsaw: Celebrating 250
As go-karts, Jeeps, antique convertibles and other cars and trucks — all decked out with American flags, decorations and colors — lined up on Aurora Circle, Carter Strickland was busy taking notes.
Strickland, 22, has been a lifelong resident of High Point Terrace. He was helping organize the neighborhood’s annual July Fourth parade, one that has taken place for 77 years and, on this day, was celebrating 250 years of American independence.
Organizing the parade and festivities is a given when your parents have been involved for years, Strickland said. He’s helped for about the past decade and now serves on a committee of around 12.
