‘Inhumane’ heat crisis unfolding at Shelby County Jail, staff warns
Due to the prolonged heat exposure at the Shelby County Jail, both inmates and employees are suffering from severe heat exhaustion, according to a letter from jail staff. (The Daily Memphian file)
Jail employees are warning Shelby County officials of extreme heat, rising medical emergencies, and what they describe as “cruel conditions” inside the facility after month-long air conditioning issues.
