Daily Jigsaw: Baber is back
Following the 2011 floods that left Rodney Baber Park on James Road with damaged electrical infrastructure, baseball fields and restrooms, community members gathered to celebrate the end of a yearslong revitalization process.
The park was named after Baber, who served as Memphis Parks Commission chairman from 1949 to 1951.
The grand opening kicked off at 5 p.m. Friday with an opening statement from Justice Bolden, director of Memphis Parks, and Michalyn Easter-Thomas, Memphis City Council member representing District 7. A crowd of children and residents lined up for free Mempops at the event.
