Vote delayed for Olive Branch rezoning, landfill expansion

By , Daily Memphian Updated: August 04, 2026 11:02 PM CT | Published: August 04, 2026 10:11 PM CT

Olive Branch leaders pushed off final approval Tuesday night on rezoning an area of the city that would allow for a controversial industrial park to be built near the intersection of Church and Craft roads.

The proposed nearly 600-acre “DeSoto Innovation District” aims to bring advanced manufacturing jobs to the city and expand the county landfill, which is near capacity.

The board will now take a final vote Sept. 1 after city planning officials work with the developer on changes to the project plans that were suggested Tuesday night.
