Daily Jigsaw: Print media to patient care

Under a tent on the front lawn of the old Commercial Appeal building at 495 Union Ave., Regional One and county leaders unveiled a highly anticipated rendering Wednesday, the new roughly $1 billion Regional One Hospital.

Reginald Coopwood, president and CEO of Regional One Health, was joined by Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris, county commissioner Miska Clay Bibbs and longtime Memphis journalist Otis Sanford.

The rendering revealed a building of more than 600,000 square feet laid out horizontally across the footprint of the current Commercial Appeal building, Coopwood said. It has 315 beds, and the departments are on the same floor, improving patient care, he said.
