Michael Jackson biopic stars to host this year’s NCRM Freedom Awards

The National Civil Rights Museum’s 35th Freedom Award will be Thursday, Oct. 1, at the Orpheum Theatre Downtown with actors from the Michael Jackson biopic hosting.
Larenz Tate, who most recently portrayed Motown founder Berry Gordy in “Michael,” a film detailing the life of pop icon Michael Jackson, will host the main ceremony. Memphis native Jaylen Hunter, who made his major Hollywood debut as young Marlon Jackson, will host the student awards.
Since 1991, the Freedom Award has recognized distinguished individuals for their contributions to civil and human rights.
