Meet Opera Memphis’ new music director

Donald Lee III comes to Opera Memphis as its new music director, after having spent his summer working with the Cincinnati Opera.

“At my core, I’m just a Virginia man that is intensely, intensely in love with music at a high level,” Lee said. “... If I’m working on music, I can get all cerebral and hoity-toity and all of that. And after that, I really just want a beer and a nice hot plate of food. That is who I am.”
