Daily Jigsaw: A derby good time
As the spectators at the Pipkin Building at Liberty Park Saturday afternoon were cheering for the jammers and blockers of Memphis Roller Derby, Lou Stackley was watching intently for anything that might require his services.
Stackley is a paramedic, and it was his job to take care of anyone injured in the seeming melee that is roller derby, at least to the uninitiated. He watches for cuts and scrapes, sprained ankles, broken bones and the like.
But it’s the possibility of a head injury that really worries him, particularly since Memphis Roller Derby is played on a concrete floor.
