Deadly police chases, little transparency in Memphis Safe Task Force’s first year
People gathered on Aug. 17, 2026, at B-SIDE Bar in memory of Reggie Pederson, who was killed Aug. 2 in a car crash stemming from a high-speed police chase in Orange Mound that Pederson had no involvement in. (Brad Vest/Special to The Daily Memphian file)
At least two people have died in pursuits since the MSTF arrived. Advocates are calling for clearer policies and required reporting.
