Monday recap: Tigers’ offense continues to flourish

The Memphis Tigers opened their American Conference schedule with a 59-8 blowout at Charlotte this past Saturday.

The 49ers struggled to resemble a team that had any business being on the same field as Memphis. How much can we take from a 51-point victory against an opponent that was a three-touchdown underdog at home? Was Saturday a sign that the Tigers are gearing up to play their best football at the appropriate time?

John Martin

John Martin is a contributing college sports columnist for The Daily Memphian. Martin is a lifelong Memphian who’s covered the Memphis Tigers’ basketball program for more than a decade. Before joining The Daily Memphian team, he was the Memphis beat writer for The Athletic. Currently, he is the co-host of the Jason and John Show on 92.9 FM ESPN, weekdays at 11 a.m. Martin is a graduate of White Station High School and the University of Memphis.
