Earlier this week, after several contentious meetings, the Memphis City Council approved a move toward developing land-use standards and regulations for new data centers — though not new regulations themselves.

That vote, which was part of a more than five-hour meeting, did include a 135-day moratorium on new data centers. But the City Council also voted down a resolution for a more indefinite moratorium before a capacity crowd in City Hall.

Confused? We don’t blame you.

Today, we’re joined by Bill Dries and Mary Evans, who reported from City Council Tuesday as the body took its next steps to regulate data centers.
